CARIUMA, Soho, NEW YORK

From Rio to NY.

An experiential pop-up shop for New Yorkers to enjoy the authentic Rio bar culture; a place where we hang out, drink, and dance SAMBA.

“Grab a chair and sit with us”

PULL UP A CHAIR

The chairs carry with them years of stories from famous Rio neighbourhoods -Ipanema, Copacabana, and Lapa. They are the silent witnesses to “What happens in Rio, stays in Rio. Not anymore...

Low level chairs attached to the walls are removable and customers are encouraged to select their own and sit on to try on shoes.

SNEAKER BAR

Constructed from recycled crates, the store's central focal point. Adorned with barware from Brazil and most likely people hanging out enjoying a few drinks and the latest Cariumas.

Below crates provide sporadic alcoves for further display opportunities.

FLOORING... FEELS LIKE HOME

Black and white lino is reminiscent of the flooring of many bars, cafes and restaurants in Rio. Tiling delivers Cairuma's playful messaging as you step into the store.

STRAW CURTAIN

Hand strung from paper straws. Lightweight, flexible installation - individual strings can be replaced and size amended accordingly to height and width.

Black, green and white in keeping with Cariuma's colour palette.

LET'S DANCE... LET'S HANG OUT

Inspired by Rio's energy, the vibrant colours, dancing close, dancing in the streets.
Live music, bars, beers, friends, conversations into the early hours.

WINDOW DISPLAY

Green neon is a subtle nod to the Cariuma green during the day, but at night the window comes alive, just like NYC.

The central window display is inspired by the world famous ceramic tile staircaseS of the Lapa and Santa Teresa neighbourhoods of Rio designed by Jorge Selaron. The vibrant colours of the original ceramic staircases also inspire Cariuma's collection.
